Who do we treat?

DocSpitz has experience with patients as old as 98 years and as young as 3 days old. Some conditions do not respond well to our care; in that case, we don’t treat you. BUT if you have a condition that responds to our care, we will be happy to treat you! Conditions that respond quickly to our care.

What does a chiropractor do?

Chiropractors are most proficient at the adjustment. The adjustment is the primary means of restoring motion to joints that aren’t moving well. Also, chiropractors utilize specific and efficient techniques to treat soft tissues of the body (muscles, tendons, ligaments, joint capsules and myofascial tissue).

Why does this work so well?

Remember, joints were made to move! When a joint is not moving properly, the brain knows that there is something wrong, so it “protects” the area by causing inflammation to settle in the area. As a result, the muscles around it contract and don’t let go. This is why it is very important to restore joint motion and treat the muscles around the joint. As the joint begins to move well, inflammation leaves the area and the muscles around the joint are allowed to relax.

What is the “pop”?

This is called cavitation and it happens when a contained fluid is put under a rapid force and an air pocket is created. In a chiropractic adjustment, when the joint is not moving the capsule around the joint (containing synovial fluid) is under pressure. When the adjustment is performed, the pressure is released and cavitation of the joint capsule occurs. You can think of it the same way a champagne bottle “pops” when the cork is released and air is able to rush into the bottle containing the fluid. Sometimes, this does not occur. That does not mean that the joint was not moved well, it just means that cavitation didn’t occur. Cavitation is not necessary, but many like to hear it.
